FULL SPECTRUM RETAIL CONSULTING
We are a group of experts in various aspects of restaurant and related retail development. We offer a full spectrum of development services to retail chains interested in large scale domestic and international expansion. We serve non-US firms with in-bound US ambitions and US firms desiring to expand either within the United States or internationally.
Our firm’s best clients are middle-tier operators with the management and financial sophistication to undertake ambitious expansion, but who (i) lack the infrastructure to plan, implement and, sometimes, finance such an undertaking, and who (ii) are not a good match for the likes of the largest firms in this space, such as CBRE and Jones, Lang, LaSalle.
Specifically, our clients are existing chains ready to expand regionally, nationally or across borders, but who are, for one or more of the following reasons, not served by existing full-service retail services firms:
(1) too small for the large full spectrum retail consultants to solicit;
(2) previously engaged a larger, institutional firm for these services, but the fit proved poor;
(3) operating successfully at present in low visibility markets (examples: Estonia, Bulgaria),
unnoticed by American and western European players.
Our team includes the retired CEO of a publicly traded US restaurant chain and a Europe-based project management company specializing in tenant improvements.
The problem to which our firm is the solution is as follows:
This existential need to respond intelligently – and opportunistically -- to two trends:
• E-commerce and demographic changes are undermining existing retail models
• Existing retail chains want to expand internationally in response to those changes
Put more simply, we help retailers execute efficient and innovative (read: disruptive rather than path-dependent) responses to the imperative to gain market and enhance financial resilience.
Here’s today’s reality:
Today’s leading retail operators -- restaurant and hard goods -- whose market model took shape in pre-e-commerce days -- will either reinvent themselves in the coming years or weaken. Retailers, new and existing, must not only fight for market share to survive, they must enter that fight with a different value proposition.
They must be:
The strongest retailers will be those with large, reliable and, ideally, evolving and diverse revenue streams.
Large, reliable and diverse revenue streams come from diverse service offerings.
The strongest of the strong in the retail world will be those retailers who access diverse service offerings during the shake-out years.*
*Note to reader: the shake-out years are upon us: Decline of the old model in many institutional environments is slow, until it’s not -- that is, it’s slow until the day arrives when decline turns into apocalypse. Store closures by Sears, J.C. Penney, HH Gregg, Abercrombie & Fitch, Staples, Macy’s, American Apparel, The Limited, K Mart, Guess, Payless and Radio Shack reflect, frighteningly, the ‘slow decline’ stage in the now underway – and unstoppable -- transformation of the retail environment occasioned by e-commerce.
Full Spectrum Retail Consulting has responded to retailers’ unprecedented need to access diverse services by assembling a group of experts in all aspects of restaurant and related retail development. With our platform, we offer a full spectrum of development services to retail chains interested in large scale domestic and international expansion. We serve foreign firms with in-bound US ambitions and US firms desiring to expand either within the United States or internationally.
